❝ The most beautiful saree I own. You can feel the craft the moment you touch it. ❞ - Sonal, Bangalore

The Kadwa technique is Banaras at its most disciplined.

Unlike most Banarasi weaves where the zari is carried across the full width of the fabric, Kadwa weaving cuts each motif individually - no floating threads on the reverse, no shortcuts. Every bel (vine) and butti (floral sprig) is woven as a self-contained unit, demanding extraordinary precision from the weaver.

  • Technique: Kadwa weave — each motif individually woven, no continuous weft threads; considered the most labour-intensive Banarasi technique
  • Motifs: Traditional bel (vine) and butti (floral sprig) patterns in zari
  • Colour: Navi Blue, a deep, ink-toned blue that makes the gold zari luminous
  • Fabric: Handwoven Banarasi silk
  • Occasion: Weddings, festive events, connoisseur collections
  • Origin: Banaras (Varanasi), Uttar Pradesh

For those who know the difference between a Banarasi and a Kadwa Banarasi this is the one.

Handwoven. Technique-led. Uncompromising.
